Dealer bulletin confirms pricing for of smartphone mirroring upgrade for existing models, with parts scheduled to ship in November

A leaked dealer bulletin obtained by CarAdvice this week confirms Mazda will retrofit your MZD-equipped vehicle with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for $494.98.

We’re still yet to get official comment from the company’s local division, though the bulletin also details the costs of each part if the customer was to purchase them alone – including the hub module ($202.28) and cable harness ($101.12).

Mazda Australia first confirmed it would offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring technologies on MZD-equipped models back in June. Prior to that, only the BT-50 ute and its Alpine-sourced head unit offered the system locally.

The updated CX-9 SUV was the first model in Australia to have the features fitted as standard equipment, and we’re expecting all of the company’s forthcoming model-year updates and new-generation models to rollout the tech as standard.

Speaking with media at the CX-8 launch in July, Mazda’s local managing director, Alastair Doak, said: “Mazda Australia will offer, by year’s end, an Apple CarPlay and Android Auto upgrade kit, which will work seamlessly with the MZD Connect system”.
