Wondering how Darren performs car paint chip repair? Despite the many videos or pictures you have seen from paint chip repair kits or companies, car paint chip repair and scratch removal is not as simple or easy as many would have you think.
At least half the battle is understanding the limitations of touch-up paint for cars and being able to manage your customer expectations.
This video was cut from a longer video due to the many questions Darren gets about his car paint touch-up kit. In this case it is Applied Colors. And “no”, Darren does not have a firm opinion as to the best car paint touch-up kit out there. Not if you are going to be doing this as an add on service for your detail business.
If you are a DIYer and looking to fix or repair a chip or multiple chips in your car paint, you can see his link here for his recommendations.

Umm no. Get the color code from the truck or get a touch-up kit and Loew-Cornell Fine Line Painting Pen, and then buff.

Why spend so much time "finding the right colour" when it's written on the door panel xD

Step One: Buff the problem area to round off the edges of the chip. Step Two: Wipe clean the area. Step Three: Apply a generous amount of the proper paint code touch-up paint all over the chip. Step Four: Quickly and Deliberately glide a spreader or squeegee over the paint to flatten and smooth it within the chip. Step Five: Using a blue shop towel over a hard sanding block, delicately wipe away the excess paint around the edges using a slow reducer. Step Six: Buff /wipe around the area in general with a microfiber for presentation. Bob’s Your Uncle! PS., clear in 636R Switchblade Silver with mottled it up…you’re best using straight TU paint. – Taps
