Over 100 vehicles could have faulty active bonnets – not great if you hit a pedestrians.
Mercedes-Benz Australia has issued a recall for the E-Class sold between 2017 and 2018 over concerns the active bonnet may not operate as intended.
According to the German marque, some vehicles may have a defective system that doesn’t detect pedestrians and therefore doesn’t activate the safety feature in the event of a collision.
If the condition occurs, Mercedes-Benz says there could be an increased risk of injury to the pedestrian.
Affected E-Class units were sold from 10 April 2017 through 11 January 2018 – a VIN list is accessible here. There’s 102 units affected by this recall, according to the VIN list.
Customers are advised to contact their local dealer to arrange the inspection and repair of their vehicle.
