The 2019 Jetta packs new features and lower starting price.

Volkswagen has announced pricing for its redesigned 2019 Jetta sedan. VW’s newest four-door compact car is scheduled to arrive in showrooms before the end of June.

The entry-level VW Jetta S will carry a base price of $18,545, which is actually $100 less than the outgoing model. Despite that lower price, the Jetta S comes reasonably well equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels, LED head and taillights, automatic headlights and a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system that runs Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A six-speed manual comes standard, but a Jetta S with an eight-speed automatic transmission can be had for $19,345. VW will also offer a $450 Driver’s Assistance Package on the Jetta S that includes forward collision warning, autonomous braking and blind spot monitoring.

The step-up Jetta SE adds a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, keyless push button start, leatherette seating surfaces, heated seats and a standard driver’s assist system. The Jetta SE comes standard with an eight-speed automatic and carries an MSRP of $22,155. VW will offer a Cold Weather package for the Jetta SE that adds a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats and a remote start system for $495.

The sport-oriented Jetta R-Line will carry a base price of $22,995 and include features like 17-inch wheels, black exterior accents, a unique rear bumper with dual exhaust outlets, a two-tone interior and VW’s XDS electronic differential. The $495 cold weather package will also be optional on the Jetta R-Line.

The Jetta SEL builds on the SE trim level by adding projector LED headlights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, Drive Mode Selection, 10.25-inch digital cockpit display, customizable ambient lighting, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with an eight-speaker sound system, voice control, adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist. Pricing for the Jetta SEL is set at $24,415. The cold weather package can also be added for $495.

The top-spec Jetta SEL Premium will come fully loaded with niceties like 17-inch wheels, an R-Line rear bumper, leather seats, ventilated front seats, power driver’s seat, navigation and the cold weather package as standard. The Jetta SEL Premium will list from $26,945.

All prices exclude a mandatory $850 destination charge.

All 2019 Jetta models are powered by a 1.4L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that generates 147 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. The 2019 Jetta is front-wheel drive and rides on VW’s MQB architecture.
