2020 Kia Telluride

The new-for-2020 Kia Telluride seems to have what the people want in a market saturated with SUVs: rugged style, cutting-edge tech and safety features to boot. It’s no surprise, then, that it has reigned supreme all these weeks (five, if you’re keeping track) and sits, yet again, at the top of our list of the week’s five most popular reviews.

Cars.com reviewer Aaron Bragman wasn’t exaggerating when he called the Telluride a “benchmark” in its class, dominating Cars.com shopper interest with a killer combination of comfort, space, technology and perhaps most notably, safety features.

“A high level of safety equipment has been included standard on all Telluride trim levels,” Bragman writes, “including automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane keep assist, automatic lane-centering, blind spot detection with braking and steering intervention, rear cross-traffic alert and intervention, and safe exit assistance for the rear seats. The latter function uses the SUV’s rear-facing radar to detect oncoming traffic and can prevent a rear door from opening if an approaching vehicle or bicycle is detected.”

Bragman noted that some of these features, standard in the Telluride, are optional in a lot of its competitors.

“Few competitors offer the same level of space and amenities for this kind of money,” he writes.

Our First Drive of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade — which shares the Telluride’s powertrain — sits at the top of the videos list this week. It’s followed by last week’s No. 4, our First Drive of the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500, and then a how-to for your car’s four-wheel-drive system.  In fourth is our drag strip test of the 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, which fell one place from last week. Finally, we have another list returnee, our 2019 Compact SUV Challenge.
