2019 Chevrolet Suburban

A decision was made to focus on one area in particular for the 2019 Chevrolet Suburban: performance. Wait, what? The giant three-row SUV for those who need to tow or are too embarrassed to drive a minivan? Yup, you read that correctly. Chevrolet finally added the 6.2-liter V-8 available in various other GM vehicles to the Suburban. According to Cars.com reviewer Mike Hanley, it’s a qualified success.

“The high-output drivetrain adds another $5,425 to the price of a Suburban Premier — that’s $2,720 for the RST 6.2L Performance Edition package and $2,705 for the RST Edition, which are bundled together — but it’s well worth the extra money because it transforms the Suburban from a modestly powered SUV into a rip-roaring truck that accelerates strongly and has passing power to spare,” Hanley notes in his review, one of this week’s most popular.

Unfortunately, that focus on performance — either the tuning of the Suburban’s Magnetic Ride Control suspension or maybe the monster 22-inch wheels and low-profile tires — contributed to poor ride quality that isn’t befitting of a behemoth family hauler.
