Korean-built French crossover achieves 84 per cent for adult occupant protection, 79 per cent for children.
The Renault Koleos has been awarded a five-star ANCAP safety rating, based on tests carried out by Euro NCAP.
However, the rating has a 2017 date-stamp and only applies to two-wheel drive variants sold from June 2018 – a little confusing, but it coincides with the recent introduction of autonomous-emergency braking and lane-departure warning across the range.
“Safety is a priority for Renault, and accordingly we have upgraded Koleos to include standard safety features like AEB and Lane Departure Warning to ensure a 5 star ANCAP safety rating,” said Andrew Moore, managing director for Renault Australia.
The Koleos managed 32.0 points out of 38 for adult occupant protection (84 per cent), including full marks in the side impact and pole tests. It also scored 79 per cent for child occupant protection and 62 per cent for pedestrian detection.
It’s worth noting the ANCAP rating doesn’t include a score for the autonomous emergency braking system as the technology fitted to local models differs to the system available in Europe.
