Vivaro, Corsa and Mokka X all facing the battery-electric treatment.

The next-generation Opel Mokka X and Vivaro will be launched with an electric powertrain, as the Peugeot Citroen Group (PSA) looks to accelerate the brand’s electrification.

Along with the load-lugging van and compact crossover, the Opel range will next year gain an all-electric Corsa compact hatchback. Details about the car are thin on the ground, we know it’ll likely be built on a variation of the PSA e-CMP architecture that’ll also underpin the next-generation Peugeot 208.

The e-CMP platform has been built around an EV powertrain with a 50kWh battery pack, good for between 300km and 350km on a charge. It also supports plug-in hybrid power, something that’ll be used on the Grandland X PHEV launching next year.

The hatchback will fill the green-car void left by the European take on the Chevrolet Bolt, dubbed the Ampera-E, as part of the company’s turnaround plan.

Details about the Mokka X are harder to come by, but it will also likely be based on a take on the same CMP architecture as the Corsa, adapted for life as a high(er)-riding crossover.

“The new Corsa will make electro-mobility affordable for many customers, it will be a real electric car for the people,” said Opel CEO, Michael Lohscheller.
