Electric crossovers could have faulty regenerative brake systems, with 143 units affected from MY19 and MY20.

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) Australia has issued a recall for the all-electric I-Pace crossover from the 2019 and 2020 model years, over concerns the regenerative braking system could fail.

The British marque reports that customers may experience “friction braking” systems that don’t perform “as quickly as required”, which can increase the vehicle’s stopping distance.

If the condition occurs, Jaguar says this poses a hazard to the vehicle’s occupants and other road users. We also believe the vehicle may not recuperate energy for the battery to the same capacity should the regenerative brakes not work.

A total of 143 vehicles are affected by this recall, which were available for sale from 23 August 2017 through 11 April 2019 – the VIN list for these units is available here.

Owners of the recalled I-Pace models will be contacted by Jaguar’s local division, and will be advised to present their vehicle to their local dealer for a software upgrade.
