BMW forms joint venture to build MINI's EV in China

The firm has created “no concrete designs” to export these cars to other marketplaces.

BMW Team has finalized ideas to establish MINI electric vehicles in China.

The German automaker has teamed with China’s Excellent Wall Motor to form a 50:50 joint venture, identified as “Highlight Automotive Constrained,” for progress and manufacturing of electric powered motor vehicles for MINI and Fantastic Wall models.

The businesses will establish a new manufacturing facility in Jiangsu Province, subsequent the MINI EV’s commence-of-manufacturing following 12 months at MINI’s main manufacturing unit in Oxford.

“Modern signing represents a new degree of cooperation among China and Germany,” says BMW chief Harald Krüger. “This strategic partnership is a crystal clear acquire-win for the BMW Group and Great Wall Motor, enabling us to lead to China’s formidable programs to ramp-up new electrical power vehicles and reduce emissions in the mobility sector.”
