It’s Britain v Germany in this super GT straight-line duel. Who comes out on top?
The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera and Mercedes-AMG GT R are both the most potent and track-ready supercars in their respective line-ups, but which is the fastest in a straight line?
In a new video posted this week, the UK’s Top Gear pits the two super GTs against each other in an old-school drag race, with a surprising outcome.
Power in the Aston comes from a 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 making a meaty 533kW of power and 900Nm of torque, while the AMG puts out 430kW and 700Nm from its bi-turbo 4.0-litre V8.
Aston Martin claims the DBS Superleggera will hit triple figures in 3.4 seconds, while Mercedes-AMG reckons the GT R can achieve the same in 3.6 seconds. Not much separates them on paper, but how does that translate to the real world?
