Brand’s first all-electric model goes into production later this year, and has a WLTP driving range of 265km.

The Skoda Citigo-e iV has been unveiled before going into production during the second half of 2019 as the brand’s first all-electric vehicle.

Available solely as a five-door hatch, the electric Citigo is powered by an electric motor with 61kW of power and 210Nm of torque, which is capable of propelling the city hatch from 0-100km/h in 12.5 seconds, and towards a top speed of 130km/h.

Located in the chassis floor is a 36.8kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which Skoda says is rated at 265 kilometres of driving range under the WLTP cycle.

The Citigo-e iV can be charged via either CCS (Combined Charge System), a standard plug socket, or wall box. CCS is standard on the Style trim level, and optional on Ambition models.

Charging to 80% of the battery’s capacity takes just an hour using CCS, 4 hours 8 minutes with a 7.2kW wall box, or 12 hours 37 minutes using a 2.3kW home charging station.

The electric Citigo is differentiated from its petrol-powered siblings by a body-color grille, and a redesigned front bumper. On the inside, the Citigo-e iV also has a new instrument panel.

Standard features include electric front windows, climate control, central locking, a smartphone docking station on the dashboard, lane assist, and 14-inch alloy wheels.

The car’s climate control system and battery status can be accessed remotely via new a smartphone app.

Upgrade to the more expensive Style model, and the Citigo-e iV gains 16-inch rims, interior ambient lighting, wing mirrors with electric adjustment and heating, and leather for the steering wheel, gear shifter and hand brake.

Speaking with , Kurt McGuinness, public relations manager for Skoda Australia, said: “We don’t have any current plans to introduce Citigo, in any configuration”.

“Our [EV] strategy involves taking MEB- based cars only at this stage.”
