Since Hyundai’s name shakeup of its Santa Fe lineup, where exactly its SUVs fit and what exactly they’re called has been a bit murky, but the arrival of the 2020 Palisade clears things up. The three-row SUV sits at the top of the lineup, and when it goes on sale later this year it will start at $32,595, including a $1,045 destination charge.

The Palisade comes in SE, SEL and Limited trims, and all-wheel drive is available across the trim lineup. The base price is for the SE with two-wheel drive. The SEL starts at $34,545 and the Limited at $45,745; all-wheel drive adds $1,700 to all models. (All prices include destination.)
What Each Trim Offers
All models use a 291-horsepower, 3.8-liter V-6 engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Standard equipment includes an 8-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a second-row bench seat, conversation mirror, cargo area underfloor storage and five USB ports. SEL models add heated front seats, second-row captain’s chairs, an eight-way power adjustable driver’s seat with power lumbar support, push-button start, remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Limited models add a full color head-up display, an around view monitor, a blind spot monitor, Nappa leather seats, ventilated front seats, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a dual panel sunroof and a 12-speaker premium audio system.
Safety Tech
The Palisade offers a lot of standard safety equipment, including forward collision alert with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, automatic high beams, a driver attention warning and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality. When the Palisade was unveiled in November, Hyundai listed blind spot monitoring and rear-cross traffic alert among the Palisade’s standard features but has since removed them.
SEL models add blind spot collision-avoidance assist and rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist. Also standard on SEL and Limited trims is the new Safe Exit Assist function, which will prevent the rear doors from unlocking and opening if it detects an oncoming vehicle on that side of the Palisade.
Versus Competitors
The Palisade competes against the likes of the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander and is at the low end of the price scale against competitors. In base V-6 two-wheel-drive trim, the Pilot starts at $32,495 and the Highlander at $34,825.
The Palisade is closely related to Kia’s new three-row SUV, the 2020 Telluride, which starts at $32,735. Unlike the Telluride, which is manufactured in Georgia, the Palisade is produced in Ulsan, South Korea; Hyundai said it will be available at U.S. dealerships soon.
