You’ll pay an extra $44,000 to make your 600LT a drop-top. With power from the same engine, and the same track focus as the coupe, there’s minimal cost in performance.
McLaren has revealed pricing for its 600LT Spider in Australia, as the limited-edition convertible touches down locally.
The car will be hard to come by; McLaren’s Asia Pacific boss confirmed barely 50 will reach our shores between coupe and convertible.
Pricing will start at $496,000 before on-road costs, a $44,000 jump on the coupe. The extra spend gets you the same 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine as the coupe, putting the same 441kW of power and 620Nm of torque to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
It hits 100km/h in just 2.9 seconds from standstill, pulls to 200km/h in 8.4 seconds and tops out at 324km/h – or 315km/h with the roof down.
Despite the fact there’s much more sky on offer, the 600LT Spider shares many of its carbon-fibre body panels with the coupe, along with its fixed rear wing, Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo R tyres and sharper steering, backed by a totally overhauled suspension setup.
With its power-folding roof and minor structural reinforcements, the Spider is around 50kg heavier than the 600LT coupe, but still 100kg lighter than the 570S Spider cousin.
