Hottest M8 has been snapped in a warehouse months ahead of its official reveal.

Spy photographers have struck in BMW’s warehouses again, snapping the upcoming M8 Competition months ahead of its official reveal.

How do we know it’s a Competition? BMW has a formula, and this car appears to follow it perfectly. It rides on slim-spoked wheels, and the mirrors, grille, air intakes and door trims are all finished in gloss black – all of which have been used to differentiate Competition models from their less-focused brethren across the existing M range.

Oh, there’s an M8 Competition badge on the boot as well. That’s always a pretty good indicator.

These pictures, published on GermanCarForum, reportedly came from an internal presentation about the vehicle.

Along with the styling changes, the Competition gets a carbon-fibre roof, subtle lip spoiler and a lower, more focused suspension tune.

As for how much power it’ll make, there’s talk the M8 Competition’s 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine could top 480kW. We’re expecting the regular M8 to make around 460kW or 470kW, with torque figures yet to be disclosed.

Inside, there’s special diamond quilting for the seats, complete with what appears to be a race-stripe motif. Gone is the crystal gear knob of the regular 8 Series, replaced with a leather-trimmed unit, and the start button is now finished in a suitably racy shade of red.

BMWBlog is reporting the Competition will be sold alongside the regular M8. Launch is likely to take place in Geneva, which kicks off in March 2019.
