Vehicles Affected: Approximately 800 model-year 2018-19 Mercedes-AMG GLC63, GLC63 coupe and GLC63S SUVs

The Problem: The frontal airbag may have a delayed deployment for certain unbelted front-seat passengers, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

The Fix: Dealers will update the airbag control unit software parameters for free.

What Owners Should Do: Mercedes-Benz began mailing interim letters to owners Feb. 8; a second letter will be mailed once remedy parts become available. Owners can call the automaker at 800-367-6372, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
