2018 Subaru Crosstrek; Cars.com photos by Christian Lantry

During Cars.com’s last Subcompact SUV Challenge in 2015, Subaru’s smallest SUV took home the prize, handily beating several other vehicles in the class. The Crosstrek has been redesigned for 2018, and its updates should only further its appeal.

The revised Crosstrek looks a lot more like its Impreza sibling for 2018. It grows an inch and gets beefier exterior styling with more rugged-looking body cladding and a darker grille finish.

Inside, the Crosstrek again borrows heavily from the Impreza with a similarly styled dashboard, as well as the same multimedia system. In the Crosstrek, a 6.5-inch screen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a backup camera is standard. An 8-inch screen, a navigation system, heated cloth or leather seats, and a Harman Kardon premium audio system are optional.

We pitted the Crosstrek against key rivals in the subcompact SUV class in our upcoming 2018 Subcompact SUV Challenge. Check back Monday to see how it fared against rivals in this white-hot sales segment, including the 2018 Ford EcoSport, 2018 Hyundai Kona and 2018.5 Nissan Rogue Sport.
