857 vehicles could be fitted with detaching rear window trims.

Mercedes-Benz Australia has issued a recall for C-Class models sold between May 2016 and January 2018 over concerns window trims could detach from the vehicle.

The German marque reports that affected units may have experienced a production fault where the bonding of the rear window trims strips on both the left- and right-hand sides may not have been performed correctly.

If the condition occurs, the exterior aluminium section of the strip may detach from the vehicle while in motion, posing a potential hazard to other road users.

Affected C-Class vehicles were available for sale from 8 May 2016 through 3 January 2018 – a VIN list is available here.

Owners of the recalled units are advised to contact their local Mercedes-Benz dealer to arrange the inspection and repair of their vehicle, free of charge.
