Ok Scotty. I've seen your "don't buy a diesel" video, but I'm needing to buy a truck in the next year or so and mostly what I'm going to use if for is hauling loads over 2,000 lbs. and up to 5,000 lbs. about 6 times a year, and smaller loads with no trailer just a full bed about 1 time a week. Do I need diesel, 1/2 ton gas, or 3/4 ton gas, or something else?

Opinions on a 1998 Ford Escort?

Scotty is a brilliant auto mechanic. I can understand it is absolutely impossible to answer every question submitted. People should also try using a search engine on the net. If you have the problem chances are thousands of others had the same problem and the fix is available.

Scotty, I've been watching your videos for a while now, and it's pretty clear that you're not the biggest fan of automatic transmissions. BUT, are there any automatics out there that you DO like?

I have been owning high end Nissan SUV vehicles. I change them every four years average, and buy the extended warranty. I realize this is expensive. After about 4 years my average distance is about 45,000 miles. The idea of the extended warranty is if I have a problem and they have to keep the vehicle more than 2 hours I get a loaner. I am worry free if there is an expensive problem. I am an easy driver. I never had any transmission or drive train problems problems with my vehicles. Only general maintenance. These vehicles can be left out over night in -40 and will start in the morning. I let the engine idle for a minimum of about 3 minutes before proceeding. I go extremely easy until the temperature gauge starts to rise more than 1/4 way to normal temperature.

I need the SUV for the type of driving and places I have to drive to. We have severe winters where I am located, and the roads are not really very good for regular vehicles. Lots of deep snow, and the roads can be rough.

Ford F-Series, the best-selling vehicle of any kind in America for the past 35 years.

I’ve got a 2015 2.7L twin turbo Ecoboost F-150 that gets lots of positive AND negative reviews on YouTube. Do you have any thoughts on long term reliability? Should I sell it and go with a V-8?
