    1:20 or you can just go to the front and look at the brakes you see how much there is left without looking like an idiot for those lol

    These are good basic checks but a lot of other things need to be checked and periodically replaced like the air filter, fuel filter and tranny fluid. It is easy to forget so I use a great vehicle maintenance program on my computer http://www.automotivewolf.com that keeps me up to date on everything and automatically reschedules things after you've checked it. It also creates a car maintenance log for you and tracks parts and miles per gallon. I've been using this software now for several years and have never had a major repair on my vehicle. The key thing is to stay up with the maintenance schedule!

    I would also add that checking your wiper blades every now and then is a good idea, especially if you live in an area where it rains a lot.

    i only ever change and check is the tires. the rest i leave it to service.
